Global pulp and paper producer Sappi has confirmed that it has successfully concluded annual wage negotiations for its operations in South Africa.
Sappi, a member of the sector bargaining council, has concluded with staff unions CEPPAWU, UASA and Solidarity the wage agreement, setting out pay and working conditions. The agreement brings to a close a protracted period of negotiation.
Sappi Forest Products CEO, Andre Wagenaar said, "The conclusion of this agreement once again underscores the importance of a process of constructive engagement between the parties in order to achieve an agreement that meets the needs of all."
