PGSF continues to build online resume bank for graduating scholarship students with help from PrintWorkers.com
Press release from the issuing company
Sewickley, PA –August 24, 2006 – The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) has created an online resume bank for all scholarship recipients. Recipients can post their resumes free of charge. PrintWorkers.com, an Internet job board for Web, copy, and printing professionals, donated the entire service, including all programming time and costs.
The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation administers scholarships for the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) and its affiliates, litho clubs, organizations, companies, and individuals. Currently, more than 240 students are receiving financial assistance through PGSF, at more than 100 colleges, universities, and technical schools. PGSF manages more than $7 million in endowments for its donors.
Approximately 75 PGSF scholarship recipients are graduating this spring. They are seeking positions in printing technology, prepress, graphic imaging, packaging, sales, customer service, and business administration. Graduates come from graphic arts programs at higher-learning institutions across the country, including Rochester Institute of Technology, California Polytechnic State University, Clemson University, Georgia Southern University, Western Michigan University, University of Wisconsin-Stout, Ferris State University, Appalachian State University, Fox Valley Technical College, Madison Area Technical College, and many more.
Resumes of the participating PGSF scholarship recipients can be found at www.gain.net on the GAIN job bank. GAIN is a service of PIA/GATF. The GAIN job bank has been operated by PrintWorkers.com for over two years.
Normally, only PIA/GATF members who have purchased a members-only discount resume package may access job-seeker resumes. As part of PrintWorkers.com’s donated service, however, the resumes of graduating PGSF scholarship students will be searchable for free by all PIA/GATF members for one year. This will be an ongoing service provided by PGSF, PIA/GATF and PrintWorkers.com: each year, they will host resumes of the most recent graduating PGSF class on the GAIN job bank. The resumes of each graduating class will be accessible, free of charge, for one year.
“PrintWorkers.com recognizes that the industry needs to connect with and draw young people into the graphic arts,” observes Brian Regan, chief operating officer at PrintWorkers.com. “Having grown up in the graphic arts industry, we at PrintWorkers.com also understand the industry’s struggle to find quality employees. This was an ideal way for us to help recent graduates, PGSF, and PIA/GATF, while also giving back to the industry.”
