Esko to present complete label production, from ideation to flexo CTP at LabelExpo Americas

Press release from the issuing company

Gent (Belgium), July 26, 2006 – Esko, the market leader in packaging pre-production solutions and world leader in digital imaging of flexo plates, will showcase at LabelExpo Americas in booth 5202 a broad range of products for the entire tag and labels supply chain. Esko turns the entire packaging supply chain - from brand owner to retailer – into a straightforward collaborative process, delivering consistent quality while reducing time to market and product costs. Esko is partnering with DuPont and the Pitman Company to demonstrate a complete tag and label workflow, from ideation to flexo plate imaging. The solutions demonstrated at LabelExpo all contribute to this vision. Esko will demonstrate its new Scope 3 packaging software, the Cyrel Digital Imager (CDI) Spark 2530 flexo imager for narrow web platemaking, and the Kongsberg XE10 samplemaking table. One of the highlights of Esko’s exhibit, along with partnership of DuPont and the Pitman Company, will be the demonstration of a complete label workflow. At Esko’s booth, visitors will be able to view a presentation of the packaging supply chain workflow from ideation, through prepress production. At the DuPont/Pitman Company booth, #5403, they can view the final component of production, flexo CTP, featuring the Cyrel Digital Imager. A small footprint, CDI Spark 2120 flexo imager targeted for smaller narrow web/label trade shops and converters who want provide competitive, high quality plates up to up to 21” x 20” will be on display. Visitors who attend both presentations qualify for a unique one-of-a-kind opportunity—details of which will be revealed on the show floor. The product highlights in the Esko booth will include: Scope 3: The tag and label industry has very specific requirements that arise from combining various substrates with a range of printing techniques, often on the same press. Scope is the core of Esko’s solution to turn the entire packaging supply chain – from brand owner to retailer – into a straightforward collaborative process. Scope 3, the newest version of Esko’s innovative packaging software suite, includes prominent features such as an even closer interaction between CAD and graphic production utilities, and the systematic adoption of PDF as the native file format throughout the entire Esko workflow. Scope 3 also brings improved web collaboration facilities and new on-line review and approval capabilities. New tools for easy installation and on-line monitoring facilitate customer support and guarantee a stable working environment for the thousands of Esko software users. The CDI Spark 2530, accepting plates as large as 25 x 30, is designed specifically for companies that serve tag and label markets with a need for high throughput. It boasts a new plate loading table and the new EasyClamp II drum for easier and faster plate loading. With the EasyClamp drum, tape is not needed to mount plates onto the drum. The clamp design allows separate front and tail plate loading, with a simple one-turn operation. The CDI Spark 2530 is equipped with a fiber laser and multiple beam optics for highest quality and productivity. The newest and smallest member of the Kongsberg CAM table product line is the XE10 table, a robust, small-format dieless cutting table ideally suited for samplemaking for decal and other specialty print applications. The XE10 is based on the successful technology and robust architecture of the Esko Kongsberg cutting and creasing table, scaled down to a new platform and a smaller format. Its 31.5” x 43.3” work area can accept material as large as 35.4”x 47.2”. Since its introduction at the end 2005, the XE10 has gained great interest in the market, and the first series of orders are being delivered at customer sites around the world. “We believe no one but Esko on the LabelExpo show floor is able to demonstrate a complete Design Life-Cycle Management (DLM) solution from ideation, including CAD and graphic design, web based collaboration to flexo CTP,” comments Mark Vanover, Esko director of marketing. ”Esko continues to expand its vision from pre-production to a total process view, integrating and linking packaging workflow systems upstream and downstream, from design to finishing and beyond. The world’s’ leading brand owners, tradeshops, printers and packaging converters today confirm this strategy and already successfully implement Esko technology into their global operations."
