Potlatch Corporation Announces Resource Management Vice President

SPOKANE, Wash.--July 19, 2006-- Potlatch Corporation today announced the appointment of Brent Stinnett, 58, as vice president, resource management. Effective August 1, 2006, Stinnet replaces John Olson, who retired May 31, 2006. Stinnett most recently served as Plum Creek Timber Company's vice president and general manager of the southwest region, where he had responsibility for 2.4 million acres of forest land in six states. At Potlatch, Stinnett will have company-wide responsibility for all facets of forest management activities. He will report to President and CEO Michael J. Covey and will relocate to the company's headquarters in Spokane. "With a significant background in all phases of forest resource management, Brent brings essential experience and leadership that will help Potlatch achieve the company's growth goals," noted Covey. "His deep knowledge of southern and western inland forests, combined with his experience in acquisitions and divestitures, will be extremely valuable in capitalizing on future land investment opportunities." Stinnett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in forest engineering from Oregon State University.
