MeadWestvaco Elects Dirk Krouskop Vice President, Safety, Health and Environment

STAMFORD, Conn.--July 6, 2006-- MeadWestvaco Corporation today announced Dirk Krouskop has been named vice president, Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E). In this role, Mr. Krouskop will provide leadership to the company's SH&E function as it establishes its new shared business model, and further advance the company's performance in the areas of safety, health and environmental stewardship.
Mr. Krouskop has been with the company for 26 years, and in that time he has held a variety of SH&E positions as well as corporate functions, and most recently served as director for enterprise SH&E strategy and policy.
"Dirk's background and leadership complement the company's long-standing commitment to safety, health and environmental stewardship," said Mark Watkins, senior vice president of MeadWestvaco. "His expertise will help MeadWestvaco further advance in the areas of sustainable product design, asset protection, risk management, and sustainable material and energy utilization."
Mr. Krouskop is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with both an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in environmental engineering. He also has a master's degree in business administration from Ohio University.
