Standard Offset Printing Company is 1,000th Customer to Install KODAK PRINERGY Evo Workflow System
Press release from the issuing company
ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 23 -- Standard Offset Printing Company installed the KODAK PRINERGY Evo workflow system in May, becoming the 1,000th customer in the world to implement the PDF workflow configuration tailored to small to mid size graphic communications companies. Since implementing the system, the Reading, Pa., printer has cut processing time in half for even the biggest files.
“To stay competitive, we need a workflow system that supports the large number of PDF files we’re receiving from customers today,” said Scott Vaughn, Chief Operating Officer, Standard Offset Printing, a $10 million commercial print shop specializing in high end corporate and marketing communications materials, as well as packaging for the pharmaceutical industry. “Our PRINERGY Evo system is able to chew through large files with ease and can easily handle transparencies that designers are using so often today. We also know we can add other features of the PRINERGY Evo solution as our needs grow and change in the future.”
Vaughn’s prepress department reports that the PRINERGY Evo system is dramatically improving productivity. For example, one of the biggest jobs they produce each month is a 100 page full color catalog. Ripping the job, which is filled with high resolution photography, used to take 35 minutes or more. With the PRINERGY Evo system, the file is processed and ready for proofing in just 15 minutes.
“As a former KODAK BRISQUE system customer, Kodak made it easy for us to meet the changing needs of our business by providing a seamless transition between our existing workflow system and KODAK PRINERGY Evo system,” Vaughn said. “It’s doing everything Kodak said it would do for us and more.”
The KODAK PRINERGY Evo system is a scaleable workflow solution that can grow with customer expansion. It is an end to end, flexible PDF workflow management tool for prepress, plate or film production that organizes page processing, proofing, computer to film and computer to plate. Based on state of the art technologies and equipped to support PDF, JDF and ICC standards, the family of PRINERGY products increases efficiency and reduces the cost of production. Kodak launched the PRINERGY Evo system in April 2004.
“One thousand users in only two years is an excellent start, but we are continuing to grow and are now installing on average five systems every single business day,” said John Ward, Product Manager, PRINERGY Evo software, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “Customers are adopting the system because it is an easy to use, efficient, comprehensive PDF workflow solution for an ongoing low total cost of ownership.”
