ATLANTA, June 15 -- Georgia-Pacific Corp. today announced that A.D. "Pete" Correll will retire as chairman of the company's board of directors effective June 30, 2006. Correll will continue to serve as an advisor to Georgia-Pacific's board and its leadership team as chairman emeritus. Joseph W. Moeller, president and chief executive officer, will assume additional responsibilities, serving as chairman, president and chief executive officer. "It has been my honor and privilege to work with Pete during the past six months," said Moeller. "His vast knowledge of Georgia-Pacific and his industry expertise have been extremely helpful to our new board members and to me personally as I have visited our facilities and met with employees, learned about our businesses and brands, and met with customers. I look forward to continuing counsel from Pete as he serves as our chairman emeritus." Correll said, "I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work with this great company and its great people for the past 18 years. Georgia- Pacific employees, with their unique 'can-do' spirit, have made my career with this company a wonderful experience. I owe them my deepest gratitude for their dedication and support." The company also announced that David L. Robertson will join Georgia- Pacific's board. Robertson was named Koch Industries' president and chief operating officer following Moeller's move to Georgia-Pacific in December 2005. A member of the Koch Industries board, Robertson began his career with Koch in 1984 in sales and marketing. His numerous positions at Koch have included president of Flint Hills Resources, president of Koch Petroleum Group, president of Koch Agriculture Company and president of Koch Beef Company. Other members of Georgia-Pacific's board include Charles Koch, chairman and chief executive officer of Koch Industries; Richard Fink, executive vice president of Koch Industries, who focuses on legal and public affairs; Steve Feilmeier, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Koch Industries; John Pittenger, senior vice president of Koch Industries, who provides leadership in strategic planning and business development; Dale Gibbens, Koch Industries' vice president of human resources; Bill Caffey, Georgia-Pacific's executive vice president of operations excellence and compliance; and Moeller, Georgia-Pacific's chairman, president and chief executive officer. Correll joined Georgia-Pacific in 1988 as senior vice president of pulp and printing paper. During his tenure, he served as executive vice president of pulp and paper, chief operating officer, president, chief executive officer and chairman. In 1993, he became the company's chairman, chief executive officer and president. He retired as chief executive officer in December 2005. Prior to joining Georgia-Pacific, Correll gained industry experience with Mead Corp., Weyerhaeuser Co., and Westvaco. Correll is a member of the boards of directors for Norfolk Southern Corp., Mirant Corp., and SunTrust Banks, Inc. He also serves as a director or trustee on the boards of The Nature Conservancy, Atlanta Committee for Progress, The Carter Center, Commerce Club, Emory University School of Medicine, Georgia Aquarium, Robert W. Woodruff Arts Center, University of Georgia Terry College of Business, University of Georgia Foundation and the United States Council for International Business.
