Kodak's Jeff Jacobson Highlights Opportunities for Web Printers at 2006 Web Offset Association Conference
Press release from the issuing company
ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 17 -- Jeff Jacobson, Chief Operating Officer, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company, will deliver a keynote address at the 2006 Web Offset Association (WOA) 54th Annual Conference May 23 in Orlando, Fla.
Jacobson will explore the continuing vital role of print in the world and will highlight the prospects for continued strong performance of print as a part of the marketing and communications mix. Jacobson also will detail the communications mediums that offer significant growth opportunities for web offset printers, including direct mail, newspapers, inserts, magazines and the Internet.
“It's been the experience of most direct merchandisers that the Internet doesn't work as well as a commerce model without a printed catalog,” Jacobson points out. “Many consumers browse a catalog, decide what they want and make the final purchase on the Internet.
“When you look at the Internet and catalog sales, you should see the same thing you see when you look at direct mail and magazines—opportunity,” Jacobson continues. “Print doesn't own the marketing mix—nobody does—but we're essential. We have a solid present and a great future right here in the printing industry.”
The 2006 WOA Conference occurs May 22 to May 24 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando. Other daily keynote speakers include Anita Bizzotto, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, United States Postal Service; Bob Danzig, former President and Chief Executive Officer, Hearst Newspapers; Steve Forbes, President and Chief Executive Officer, Forbes, Inc.; as well as economist Steve Levitt and journalist Stephen Dubner, co-authors of the best selling business book Freakonomics.
WOA is an affiliated association of the Printing Industries of America, Inc./Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF). WOA offers programs and services to web offset printers in all areas, including magazines, catalogs, inserts, direct mail and general commercial printers.
Members of WOA receive management and technical information on the web offset printing process.
