EFI Exhibits Industry-Leading Innovations from VUTEk at FESPA Digital

Press release from the issuing company

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands--May 16, 2006-- VUTEk, a division of EFI and the recognized leader in superwide-format printer technology, is exhibiting several important innovations at FESPA Digital Printing Europe (Stand B450, Hall 9; 16-18 May, 2006, RAI, Amsterdam). EFI (www.efi.com) is the world leader in digital controllers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing. * VUTEk printers now feature the new EFI Fiery XF RIP, delivering high-speed processing, exceptional color quality and increased productivity. * Visitors to the EFI/VUTEk stand are invited to learn more about BioVu(TM), a unique, new environmentally friendly solvent ink -- the only superwide-format ink recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). * VUTEk's PressVu UV 200/600 SC UV-curing flatbed printer will be on exhibit and is now being offered at a lower, limited time price. * VUTEk will feature improvements to its PressVu UV 320/400 flatbed printer with a new 600 dpi mode that delivers sharper text for applications requiring close viewing. * With its exclusive partner Codice, VUTEk will also exhibit the unique Double System Control Visual (DSCV) Static and Dynamic technologies, specifically designed to create eye-catching graphic effects for interior and exterior advertising applications. VUTEk Printers Feature New Fiery XF RIP VUTEk printers now feature the new Fiery XF software with Bestcolor Technology, enabling the addition of multiple proofing devices to the production equipment, and integration with EFI Print Management Information Systems (MIS) and Web2Print products. Fiery XF software provides users of VUTEk superwide format printers with advanced production capabilities through an intuitive, easy-to-use graphic user interface and preview feature with sound zooming to simplify work. Drag-and-drop functionalities and wizards shorten the learning curve and make job start up easy. Fiery XF software provides sophisticated ICC-based color management and easy-to-use color adjustment functions to ensure consistent and excellent colors from VUTEk's superwide format printers. International spot color tables are built in, ensuring correct reproduction of company colors and logos. Advanced features, such as generating ICC profiles and optimizing existing profiles, allow users to achieve appealing colors and tones that meet customer demands. EFI Fiery XF software also works seamlessly with spectrophotometers from GretagMacbeth or X-Rite. And, with the solution's linearization tool, users can produce consistent, accurate color output every time. BioVu Ink VUTEk is exhibiting samples produced using their new BioVu ink -- the first solvent-based ink made from renewable resources, and the only one recognized by the U.S. EPA. Created by VUTEk, BioVu ink delivers all the benefits of traditional solvent inks without the compromises inherent in eco-solvent and aqueous inks. Like other solvent-based inks, BioVu ink provides extreme durability, strong bonding to uncoated surfaces, and great resistance to UV light and mechanical wear. BioVu inks are designed specifically to run in high-production environments and provide high print quality, without the need for ventilation. PressVu UV 200/600 SC Limited Time Price Reduction One of the two best-in-class printers on display at the show is the PressVu UV 200/600 SC UV-curing flatbed printer. Now available for a limited time at a new low price, the PressVu UV 200/600 SC printer offers the best image quality and is the most versatile printer in its class, and is loaded with features you would expect to find on more expensive models -- like stunning six-color, 600 dpi capabilities that deliver photographic color reproduction and crisp text reproduction. Its virtually limitless versatility and industrial-strength construction allow operators to print on a variety of sheet-fed or roll-to-roll materials around the clock, enabling owners to expand their services and satisfy a nearly infinite variety of long-term outdoor and indoor applications -- increasing value to customers and driving up profitability. The PressVu UV 200/600 SC can print up to two meters (80 inches) wide at up to 33 square meters (350 square feet) per hour, and prints on rigid materials up to 4.45 centimeters (1.75 inches) thick. Color gradients are smooth in the printer's six-color/600 dpi mode, and the accurate and easily repeatable matching of target colors is now possible. Enhanced PressVu UV 320/400 Performance Also at the show, VUTEk will exhibit the PressVu UV 320/400 UV-curing flatbed printer with its new 600 dpi mode, providing improved text quality -- especially for applications that require close viewing. The PressVu UV 320/400 is the most productive printer in its class and is designed to help digital print providers increase profitability. The PressVu UV 320/400 prints high quality, high resolution images on rigid substrates up to 4.45 cm (1.75 inches) thick and up to 3.2 meters (126 inches) wide. It offers productivity up to 93 square meters (1,000 square feet) per hour, equal to 14 - 2 meter x 3 meter (20 - 4' x 8') sheets per hour. It also features roll-to-roll capability, giving customers the flexibility to offer a full range of services, making it ideal for applications ranging from billboard to high quality P-O-P and everything in between. New DSCV Technology VUTEk, with their exclusive partner Codice, will exhibit both the Double System Control Visual (DSCV) Static and Dynamic technologies specifically designed for interior and exterior advertising applications. DSCV Static technology prints one-way see-through graphics on just about any rigid or flexible transparent substrate, useful for privacy, security, practicality or just visual interest applications. DSCV Dynamic offers the ability to display two or three images with exposure times of between 2 and 14 seconds, perfect for urban uses, restaurants, airports, undergrounds, transit areas, hotels, supermarkets, banks, service stations and more.
