Resource Print Solutions signs for Oce's fastest duplex printer
Press release from the issuing company
Birmingham, – April 7, 2006 – Oce, a global leader in digital document management, has today announced the first customer signing for its Océ VarioPrint 6250 cutsheet printer that is up to 70% faster than any competitor product in the market place.
Fast-expanding Resource Print Solutions has experienced significant growth in the production of mono pages during the last 12 months. A further 25% increase is forecast that will take total page impressions to around 45 million per year.
Resource Print Solutions, which was formed 10 years ago and employs over 40 people in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, has been an Océ customer since last October when it took three Océ VarioPrint 2110 machines and an Océ CPS (Colour Production System) 900 machine. It has a turnover of more than £4million and its core business is blue chip companies and private and public sector bodies.
Océ’s VarioPrint 6250, which is designed for high-end commercial and corporate printing markets, produces 250 duplex A4/letter or 132 duplex A3/ledger prints per minute, making it at least 70% faster than all other high volume, cutsheet duplex processes when printing on larger formats.
Resource Print Solutions’ Managing Director Phil Thomson and Operations Director David Woodcock expressed first interest in the Océ VarioPrint 6250 when the product was formally launched on March 27 at Océ OpenHouse 2006 – Europe’s largest annual digital printing exhibition – near Munich, Germany.
Said Thompson: “Through winning new business, we have seen our volumes grow dramatically over the 12 months and are delighted what Océ has done. We now need to look further ahead and are confident that the Océ VarioPrint 6250 is the answer to our current and future needs. – it’s key to the marketplace and we feel this is the way forward.
“Taking on an Océ VarioPrint 6250 will give us up to 80% more extra capacity, which we will need to cater for our growth projections where only 20% of our mono printing is single-sided.”
According to Océ market studies, over 80% of the jobs produced on high volume cutsheet systems are double-sided prints. But all existing systems are designed for simplex printing. To produce double-sided prints, each sheet must be fed through the printing process twice. The Océ VarioPrint 6250 uses Océ Gemini Instant Duplex technology to press toner images into both sides of the paper simultaneously. This results in perfect print registration and offset-like quality.
The results for users will be higher print productivity, greater operational efficiency and lower printing costs. Gemini is Latin for 'twins' and is one of the constellations of the zodiac. Océ chose the name to underscore the new technological approach to double-sided printing.
Simon Wheeler, head of Océ UK Ltd’s Commercial Division, said: “Resource Print Solutions has seen the benefits of this high speed printer that has set a new benchmark in cutsheet printing and offers new opportunities to commercial digital print providers. It will help build their business by increasing their capacity - producing more double-sided output in less time and offering a higher level of service to their customers.
