April 4, 2006—Sioux Falls, South Dakota— Graphic Communications World, one of the longest continually published industry newsletters, today announced the appointment of Darin Painter to the position of editor-in-chief. Previously, Darin was managing editor of Print Solutions magazine from 2000-2005. In addition, he has published more than 400 magazine and newspaper articles, many of them appearing in well-known publications including Writer's Digest, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and USA Today Online. Darin’s first issue of Graphic Communications World will be April 17, 2006. Gail Nickel-Kailing will serve as special assignments editor.

Darin is also a contributing writer for HOW, a newsstand magazine that targets graphic designers and three of his recent travel articles have appeared in Family Tree Guidebook (Betterway Books). He is also owner of the Cleveland-based company Writing Matters. Darin has won numerous writing and editing awards, including five from the American Society of Business Publication Editors and three from the Society of Professional Journalists. He has a bachelor's degree in journalism from E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where he was named Most Outstanding Graduating Senior in 1998.
