Ace Lithographers Improves Quality with Press, Workflow Solutions from Heidelberg
Ace Lithographers, based in East Hanover, N.J., recently installed a six-color Speedmaster SM 52 press with perfector and coater from Heidelberg to replace a five-color press. The shop also added Prinect Axis Control to increase productivity through accurate color measurement. Since the installations, the shop reports faster turnaround and improved quality due to the additional color and coating units on the press. Ace Lithographers uses the new equipment to print six-color jobs on a variety of paper stocks, including cover weights and magnet paper. The all-Heidelberg shop also uses Heidelberg consumables products, including Perfect Dot blankets and Saphira Violet plates and chemistry. Founded in 1973, Ace Lithographers is a family-owned and operated general commercial printer. With 19 employees, the shop services a variety of clients in the pharmaceutical, financial and insurance industries.
GLS Companies Increases Capacity with Heidelberg Sheetfed, Postpress Solutions
GLS Companies, based in Brooklyn Park, Minn., recently installed a 6-color Speedmaster CD 102 press with in-line aqueous coating and a POLAR 78 X cutter from Heidelberg to increase speed and improve quality. Since the CD 102’s installation, the shop reports increases in productivity and capacity. Installed to complement the shop’s digital business, the new POLAR cutter has increased turnaround times for short-run and small-format work. GLS uses the new equipment to produce a wide range of materials, such as packaging, brochures and annual reports. Founded in 1984, GLS Companies is a privately-owned general commercial printer housing 281 employees. The shop serves a variety of clients, including advertising agencies and retail and manufacturing companies.
High Res Printing Adds Quicksetter 300E Platesetter to All-Heidelberg Shop
High Res Printing, a division of High Resolutions, Inc. in Knoxville, Tenn., recently installed a Quicksetter 300E imagesetting device from Heidelberg to transition from film and metal plates to computer-to-plate processing. Since the installation, the all-Heidelberg shop reports faster makeready times and increased productivity due to the Quicksetter’s easy workflow integration. The shop purchased a Heidelberg consumables package with the new equipment, which includes Cristala Quickplate polyester plates and chemistry. Founded in 1994, High Res Printing primarily services local clients, such as print brokers and advertising agencies. The general commercial printer and display graphics provider has 18 employees.
Hillsboro Printing Improves Quality with Speedmaster CD 102 Press from Heidelberg
Hillsboro Printing Co., based in Tampa, Fla., recently installed a 6-color Speedmaster CD 102 press with coater from Heidelberg to upgrade technology and meet customer demand. Since the installation, the shop reports faster turnaround times and improved quality due to the new press’ versatility. The CD 102’s features, such as an in-line aqueous coater, have expanded the shop’s capabilities to handle packaging and publication work. Running the press at 15,000 sheets per hour, Hillsboro reports that it has increased capacity by 40 percent. Founded in 1918, Hillsboro Printing Co. is a privately-owned general commercial printer housing 77 employees. J&M Printing Increases Capacity with Speedmaster SM 52 Press from Heidelberg
J&M Printing, located in Rocklin, Calif., recently installed a 4-color Speedmaster SM 52 press with in-line aqueous coater from Heidelberg to meet customer demand and increase efficiencies. The new press was installed alongside two additional Speedmaster SM 52 presses, one with perfecting capabilities. Since installing the first SM 52 in 2001, the shop reports that its revenue has more than doubled due to increased productivity and capacity. J&M Printing also uses various Heidelberg consumables products, such as ink fountain foils and wash-up blades. Founded in 1974, J&M Printing is a general commercial printer housing 14 employees. JMH Printing, based in Grand Prairie, Texas, recently installed a Prosetter 102 computer-to-plate (CtP) system to upgrade technology and increase efficiency. The all-Heidelberg shop added the new platesetting device to compliment its latest press acquisitions, which include a 4-color Speedmaster SM 102 and a 2-color Printmaster PM 52. Since the installation, JMH Printing reports increases in productivity due to faster workflow and reliable prepress operations. Lifetouch Publishing Inc. recently installed an 8-color Speedmaster SM 102 press with perfector from Heidelberg in its Loves Park, Illinois facility. Since the installation, the shop has increased production speeds due to the SM 102’s high levels of automation. A national, award-winning yearbook company, Lifetouch Publishing houses multiple Heidelberg presses in each of its facilities. The Loves Park shop, which employs 400 people, also uses Heidelberg consumables products, including Perfect Dot blankets and ink-fountain foils. Since the installation, the shop reports increases in productivity and faster folding capabilities due to the 16-page folder’s automation and simple operation. The new folder also enables Midlands to keep most of its bindery work in-house, resulting in significant cost-savings. The shop uses the B 26 folder to produce a variety of materials, such as catalogs and product inserts. Mossberg & Company Adds Speedmaster SM 102 Press to All-Heidelberg Shop
Mossberg & Company, Inc., based in South Bend, Ind., recently installed a 12-color Speedmaster SM 102 press with modular coating system (MCS), perfector and CutStar roll sheeter to increase efficiency and improve quality. Since the installation, the shop reports that the MCS and CutStar systems have contributed to greater cost-savings and increased productivity. Running the new press at 12,000 sheets per hour, Mossberg uses the SM 102 to produce a wide range of materials, including marketing pieces, point of purchase materials, healthcare inserts and instruction booklets. The Printing Port Upgrades to CtP with Heidelberg’s Quicksetter 300E
The Printing Port, located in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., upgraded to computer-to-plate technology with the recent installation of a Quicksettter 300E from Heidelberg. The new platesetter is producing polyester plates for the shop’s existing Quickmaster QM 46 press. Since the installation, The Printing Port has reported improvements in production levels and quality. The shop also uses Heidelberg consumables products, including Cristala Quickplate polyester plates and chemistry and fountain solution. Founded in 1986, The Printing Port is a short-run quick print shop that produces one- and two-color brochures, letterhead and envelopes for a local clientele.
Sacramento State Installs Printmaster QM 46 from Heidelberg
California State University - Sacramento (Sacramento State), located in Sacramento, Calif., recently installed a two-color Printmaster QM 46 press from Heidelberg to expand production capabilities. The new press allows the in-plant facility to produce more work in-house, resulting in increased efficiencies and cost-savings. The shop at Sacramento State uses the new press to produce a wide variety of materials for the university, including four-color posters, black-and-white and multicolor forms, brochures, stationery and envelopes. The shop also purchased Heidelberg consumables products with the press, including Perfect Dot blankets. In addition to eight full-time employees, the in-plant printer employs five student assistants.
Signature Print Services Increases Efficiency with Printmaster QM 46 Press
Signature Print Services, located in San Jose, Calif., recently installed a two-color Printmaster QM 46 press from Heidelberg to update technology. Since the installation, the shop reports faster makeready times and increased efficiency due to the flexibility and automation of the press. Signature Print Services uses the new QM 46 to handle the bulk of its short-run work, such as letterhead, one- and two-color brochures, business cards and envelopes. Sioux Valley Hospital Expands Capabilities with Prepress, Press Equipment from Heidelberg
The in-plant shop at Sioux Valley Hospital, located in Sioux Falls, S.D., recently installed a 4-color Printmaster GTO 52 press and a Quicksetter 400E imagesetting device from Heidelberg to increase efficiencies and improve quality. Since the installations, the shop reports that the new press has increased productivity by enabling it to produce four-color work in a single run. The shop at Sioux Valley Hospital predicts that the new Quicksetter’s imposition capabilities and automation will create greater efficiency in its prepress department. The shop also uses Heidelberg consumables products, including Cristala Quickplate Silver polyester plates. The in-plant shop at Sioux Valley Hospital houses 17 employees and produces print jobs for 24 hospitals and more than 90 clinics in Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska.
