Duplo Brings JDF To Life With IPEX Offer For Printers

Press release from the issuing company

In the run up to IPEX 2006, visitors who log onto www.duplo.moonpig.com will have the chance to design their own personalised greeting card before witnessing its live production on Duplo’s stand (03-D50) at the show. The initiative sees Duplo teaming up with online card company Moonpig for the duration of IPEX, to demonstrate the range of opportunities accessible through a JDF workflow, driven by OA-Symbio from Objective Advantage. This will be the first time the solution has been seen in Europe and boldly demonstrates the complete process of design, imposition, print and finishing with very little investment, while producing real benefits and savings. Printers are encouraged to visit the exclusively designed website to create their unique card free of charge from hundreds of web-based interactive templates in both traditional and humorous styles, and in ‘spoof’ themes parodying magazines in popular culture. They are then invited to collect their personalised card from the Duplo stand at IPEX, where they will witness it being digitally printed and then finished via the company’s state-of-the-art, JDF compatible, DC-645 production colour finisher. Dominic Quennell, vice president global marketing, Duplo Corporation, says: “Our JDF DC-645 is driven by OA-Symbio software, the revolutionary front end production tool that enables small-to-medium sized printers to embrace a fully automated JDF workflow. It breaks the mould in terms of providing speed and efficiency at the finishing stage and we’re eager to showcase the system running as part of a fully-functioning digital print line at IPEX. “In teaming up with Moonpig, Duplo aims to show printers the versatile, personalised results that can be achieved with the latest developments in JDF workflow. We look forward to seeing you at IPEX where you will see our JDF-compatible products come to life when we print and finish your pre-designed card on the stand.” In addition to the Moonpig greeting cards initiative at IPEX, Duplo will finish a variety of print applications such as business cards, postcards and advertising collateral. For the first time Duplo will also show booklets being produced on the near-line System 5000 in one pass - from printed sheets to complete finished product - also in an OA-Symbio driven JDF workflow. Duplo, along with its partners at IPEX, will also show OA-Symbio compatible finishing systems working as part of a larger JDF workflow, which will illustrate how the technology can enhance a printer’s existing MIS or pre-press production facility in order to produce a wide variety of printed and finished products. Printers who do not have the chance to visit www.duplo.moonpig.com and browse the hundreds of different designs from the comfort of their own home or office before IPEX begins will have the opportunity to create and order their card on a specially designed Duplo/Moonpig booth, on Duplo’s stand at the show.
