PrinterPresence, a Web site solution used by more than 500 printers throughout the U.S. and Canada, now includes an optional Business Package Ordering System. This upgrade allows print buyers to enter variable data into templates on a printer's Web site. The Web-based software returns a soft proof to the print buyer so they can proceed to order common business forms such as business cards, letterhead and envelopes. “We developed a solution that was compatible with all platforms without having to utilize additional software that a printer wouldn’t already own,” said Troy Jensen, Digital IMS director of development. “This needed to be something that print shop owners could implement quickly without extensive training.” Once the print buyer places an online order, the printer immediately receives a color-separated, press-ready PDF file to complete the order. The process circumvents steps to get artwork to the press. “The power of this system is that print shops can save considerable time on products that traditionally provide little margin in the design department,” said Tawnya Starr, PrinterPresence CEO. “Plus, the print buyer is now directly responsible for any typographical errors in their artwork because they essentially created the printing plates themselves.” The Business Package Ordering System is sold separately from the PrinterPresence Web site.
