GMG shows latest range of high-end digital proofing and color management tools at IPEX 06
Press release from the issuing company
Tuebingen (February 7 2006) – At IPEX 06 GMG, leading developer of high-end color management and proofing solutions, will demonstrate its latest award winning software and proofing technology on stand 06-B20 (Hall 6). GMG will highlight GMG ColorServer, a new tool for automatic color conversions and demonstrate the expanded flexibility and functionality of the latest versions of its proofing and color management products. Visitors will see GMG ColorProof: the most accurate way of calibrating digital inkjet proofing engines to produce contract color proofs; GMG DotProof: which enables the output of digital halftone contract-proofs; and GMG FlexoProof: designed specifically for the needs of the flexo market. GMG will also show GMG ProofControl for digital proof quality monitoring and GMG InkOptimizer providing impressive ink savings. Also available are the various types of GMG media, including a range of proofing-specific papers and films for the most popular inkjet printers. They are manufactured to high tolerances for color critical applications and are available in a range of sizes.
GMG Color Server: This new software solution provides automatic color space conversions (CMYK-to-CMYK, RGB-to-CMYK and RGB-to-RGB) scaling, sharpening, separation and optimization of pixel and PDF image data. The software allows, for example, the conversion of one CMYK color space to another, while keeping the integrity of the black channel. Offset data, for instance, can be automatically converted to gravure data. In addition to unsurpassed quality, the major advantages of GMG ColorServer lie in dramatic acceleration and complete automation of work processes by very accurate, high-speed color transformations resulting in significant cost savings.
GMG FlexoProof: Specifically tailored to the needs of the packaging industry GMG FlexoProof supports specific flexo file formats and includes a complete Pantone spot color library, along with other functions, including an out-of-register and a printing substrate (cardboard etc.) simulation. The product also includes DotProof, GMG's popular system which allows users to generate contract-quality halftone proofs.
GMG ColorProof: The most accurate way of calibrating digital inkjet proofing engines to produce digital contract color proofs, precisely color-matched to the actual printing press. GMG ColorProof supports all standard spot color systems with up to 64 individual color channels, and is compatible with standard ICC profiles, which can be combined with GMG profiles. The GMG ColorProof system features a variety of workflow capabilities, and handles a wide range of file formats, including TIFF-IT, DCS, Postscript, and PDF (up to level 1.4).
GMG software supports a wide range of output engines including ink-jet printers from Epson, Hewlett-Packard and Canon and has recently added compatibility for large format printers such as the Mutoh RJ8000 VLF printer and laser printers.
GMG has seen outstanding results in a number of digital proofing shootouts, where GMG ColorProof systems outperformed competitive systems, for example at the recent 5th Digital Proof Forum in Stuttgart and at IPA in Chicago.
Alongside GMG’s own stand, GMG solutions will be demonstrated on a variety of printers by Turning Point Technologies (Hall 6, Stand B56), Litho Supplies (Hall 6, Stand 575) and Epson (Hall 9, Stand B45), which will be producing large format proofs on the latest Epson x800 series inkjet printers.
Robert Weihing, CEO of GMG comments: “Over the past year, GMG has invested in significant product developments to ensure we continue to provide highly competitive proofing products that deliver unrivalled quality and rapid return on investment to our customers. We are very much looking forward to demonstrating this quality, together with the flexibility and efficiency of our products on an international scale at IPEX 06.”
