Document Sciences Announces Worldwide Availability of xPresso

Press release from the issuing company

CARLSBAD, Calif., Jan. 26 -- Document Sciences Corporation, a proven leader and innovator in automating the creation and delivery of enterprise business communications, announced today the general availability of xPresso, the newest design component to its award-winning dynamic content publishing suite xPression. xPresso enables companies to automate the creation of highly-personalized marketing collaterals, brochures and catalogs, as well as customer invoices, bills and statements for both online and print distribution. "Organizations are increasingly looking for new approaches to reach their customers and prospects through personalized customer communications. But reality is that many of the available options are based on proprietary tools and manual processes, and also lack the scalability required for high volume production," explains Dan Fregeau, Executive Vice President of Document Sciences. "xPresso is a straightforward easy to use tool for creating targeted customer communications both in real time and high volume, while at the same time providing a sophisticated, open architecture that enables high performance and integration with enterprise content management systems." xPresso provides a state of the art WYSIWYG document design technology for designing dynamic, rule-based documents using familiar tools such as Adobe InDesign Creative Suite. xPresso can easily import static content and digital assets from enterprise content management systems and transform them into graphically-rich, dynamic document templates that can be used to produce hundreds of thousands of personalized documents in multiple formats, distributed across multiple channels. xPresso is ideal for creating well-designed relationship statements and billing notices that combine transactional data with targeted marketing messages. Statements no longer need to be generic, report-like documents. Instead, they can be transformed into vital selling tools that incorporate graphically appealing features and relevant customized content that can be delivered independently or in conjunction with other customized collaterals as part of targeted marketing campaigns. Marketers can use xPresso to replace preprinted marketing material inventories with highly-targeted, personalized marketing collateral that match a customer's unique profile, preferences and needs. xPresso also enables marketing organizations to localize materials for geographic markets, while further personalizing pieces as needed. When brand-specific marketing materials are required, the technology allows customers to easily develop collateral that fits every stage of the sales cycle without compromising brand guidelines. Prospects and existing customers can even request custom collateral from a company's web portal and then receive a personalized marketing piece in real time, based on the parameters of the information submitted. Built on a highly scalable, service-oriented architecture, xPresso utilizes Java and XML standards to enable integration with other enterprise systems such as leading ECM systems. xPresso has already received the EMC Designed for Documentum accreditation. xPresso outputs to multiple formats including PDF, IBM AFP, and Adobe Postscript. xPresso includes the following components: xPresso for Adobe InDesign -- xPresso makes it easy to define assembly logic that controls content and style variability at any level of granularity. When finalized, xPresso templates are packaged for publishing on Document Sciences' xPRS Server. xPRS Server -- contains high volume engines for assembling, formatting, and delivering documents in both batch and real time modes. xPRS Server includes Web-based administration, allowing system administrators to easily configure, manage, and monitor the use of their production printing. xRequest -- provides an easy-to-use Web-based interface where field personnel and non-technical users can select xPresso document templates, process them with variable files, and preview them before submitting to an xPRS Server for final publishing. "We're committed to continually enhancing our xPression content publishing platform that has provided configurable document solutions for compliance, line of business, and correspondence to Fortune 500 companies and leading financial services organizations," says Nasser Barghouti, Chief Technology Officer for Document Sciences. "Adding xPresso to our publishing platform expands our ability to enable statement and marketing document solutions so that organizations can standardize all of their enterprise business communications across one, flexible platform."
