FORTUNE Names Valassis to '100 Best Companies to Work For' List for Ninth Consecutive Year
Press release from the issuing company
LIVONIA, Mich., Jan. 9 -- Valassis, the leading company in marketing services and Connective Media, proudly announced today that it has been recognized, for the ninth consecutive year, by FORTUNE magazine as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For." Valassis has been acknowledged every year since FORTUNE began publishing the list in 1998, and this year is ranked 69th on the list. Valassis is one of 21 companies to consistently be named to the list and was named as one of the distinguished companies in the list's "Hall of Fame" last year.
"It's an honor for our company to be named to FORTUNE's '100 Best' list for the ninth year in a row," said Alan F. Schultz, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valassis. "As part of our unique culture, we celebrate our successes and we view our challenges as opportunities to build camaraderie, which further strengthens our culture. For us, making Valassis a great place to work is always a priority."
FORTUNE considers a number of factors when evaluating companies, including employee satisfaction, a collaborative culture and companies who value a work/life balance for employees. Also assessed are perks such as those given at Valassis; for example, the company's convenient on-site fitness centers, on-site doctor, hair salon and dry-cleaning services. FORTUNE works in conjunction with the Great Place to Work Institute and conducts a survey of employees from nominated companies. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the responses from randomly selected employees on the Great Place to Work Trust Index, a survey instrument measuring the quality of workplace culture. FORTUNE also evaluates each company's benefits and practices, such as communication, diversity and philanthropy. Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz first recognized Valassis in 1984 in their best-selling book, "The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America."
