Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc. has upgraded its SDP RIP software to improve prepress performance for users of its SDP-Eco1630 and SDP-Alpha 2500 platesetters. The SDP-Eco1630 is specially designed to run Mitsubishi’s Silver DigiPlate, the industry’s leading polyester CTP medium, while the SDP-Alpha 2500 is a violet metal platesetter. SDP RIP v7.0 delivers a number of new features and compatibility benefits to the polyester CTP workflow. It enhances throughput by increasing system speed and expediting file handling, while improving consistency and productivity. A new Font Emulation feature helps overcome delays during those times when a font is missing from a customer-supplied file. When activated, this advancement can make a typographically acceptable match to the missing font with no text overflow, while delivering acceptable character spacing, weight and width.
