HP and International Paper Collaborate to Make Ordinary Paper Extraordinary with ColorLok Technology
Press release from the issuing company
PALO ALTO, Calif.--Oct. 17, 2005-- HP and International Paper today unveiled technology that "locks" color into paper, producing documents with bolder, sharper images and faster dry times at no additional cost to consumers.
ColorLok(TM) technology is the result of ongoing research and development between scientists from HP and International Paper. HP Everyday Papers with ColorLok technology will be produced by International Paper through its existing licensing agreement with HP.
The companies also have expanded this relationship to a multi-year agreement that includes additional research and development projects focused around color printing for the home and office.
"ColorLok technology is an example of how powerful HP's relationship with International Paper really is," said Pradeep Jotwani, senior vice president of supplies, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. "Innovating the chemistry of the paper, as part of a total printing system, allows us to deliver unparalleled benefits to our customers."
As color printing becomes more prevalent in the home, home office and business, HP and International Paper continue to develop new ways to increase performance and output quality through the role of the paper within the printing system.
"ColorLok technology was co-developed by integrating HP's ink technology with International Paper's manufacturing expertise," said Greg Gibson, vice president and general manager, Commercial Printing and Imaging, International Paper. "Customers will enjoy new benefits with this technology that until now was only available through laser printing."
HP Everyday Papers with ColorLok are suitable for laser printing, however, additional benefits are realized when used with inkjet printing systems:(1)
Paper dries three times faster, resulting in reduced risk of smearing;
Up to 40 percent darker blacks for bolder, sharper documents;
Professional-quality color documents at laser speeds;
Up to 10 percent improvement in color palette;
Whiter sheets for higher contrast.
