Five Star Label & Tag of NYC Selects RIPit's OpenRIP Flexo
Press release from the issuing company
CHICAGO (Print 05 and Converting 05) – RIPit Computer Corp., a leading developer of graphic arts hardware and software including flexographic print workflow applications, today announces the recent installation of the company's OpenRIP Flexo solution at Five Star Label & Tag of New York City.
OpenRIP Flexo is an Adobe PostScript 3 workflow designed for use in label prepress environments of all sizes, and by service bureaus catering to the flexographic and offset printing markets. OpenRIP Flexo makes prepress for labels easy by handling all the repetitive and tedious work of preparing files for output: The SmartDie feature automatically applies the correct step and repeat, distortion, bearer bars and registration marks; and using In-RIP trapping, enables users to trap files at the RIP instantly. Prepress operators can prepare artwork in a simple one-up workflow. And, it guarantees consistency in how all jobs are processed, minimizing costly human errors.
Five Star Label & Tag of Brooklyn, New York; in business since 1998, is a full service label and tag printing company specializing in the food service industry.
Abe Schwimmer, Designer and Plate production manager at Five Star Label & Tag, says that since installing RIPit's OpenRIP Flexo solution, the company is able to create plates in-house and therefore saves significant time and money.
"RIPit technology gives us tremendous time savings because it seamlessly combines with our in-house plate making process," Schwimmer says. "We used to rely heavily on outside plates, but now with RIPit software, we can make our own plates to the specifications and cut-backs of our own presses. The software takes care of all of our label plate production requirements."
One of the best features of OpenRIP Flexo, according to Schwimmer, is that it provides a proof which shows trapping, "so that the client can see what the end result will look like." In addition, Five Star enjoys the preview mode for internal use.
Schwimmer also touts OpenRIP Flexo's simplicity and fast learning curve, saying that "anyone who has ten minutes can learn how to process a file, which is a huge help to our whole operation."
