Mohawk Fine Papers Announces Winners of Mohawk Show 6
Press release from the issuing company
[Cohoes, NY] – Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. announces the winners of its sixth annual Mohawk Show. From over 1,000 entries, there were five Best of Show pieces selected, which included the traditional top four winners plus this year’s special Environmental Excellence Award, along with 19 finalists.
With the recent acquisition of the Fine Papers brands from International Paper, Mohawk Show 6 marked the first year that pieces produced on Strathmore, Beckett or Via papers were eligible for entry. “The Mohawk Show provides a forum for designers to show their best work and allows us to see the full range of work today. With the added lines, we were able to expand the possibilities and are excited to see the results,” says Laura Shore, VP of Marketing Communications for Mohawk Fine Papers.
Each year the Mohawk Show recruits an esteemed panel of judges to help select and honor exceptionally designed and printed works produced on Mohawk papers. The Mohawk Show 6 jury included designers: Jamie Koval, principal and president of Chicago and New York-based VSA Partners (show chair); Josh Chen, principal and creative director of San Francisco-based Chen Design Associates; Michael Mabry, head of Bay Area-based Michael Mabry Design; and Anne Traver, co-owner and principal of Seattle-based Methodologie. “Out of over 1,000 pieces we found 24 that we feel are a representative cross-section of fine design, from simple graphic solutions to content rich, multi-volume books. There were a lot of really great entries,” says Jamie Koval, VSA.
Award-winning pieces [see attached photographs] and finalists include entries from both national and international printers. Winners will receive a four-night prize package to the 2006 Sundance Film Festival (or $3,000 cash). Mohawk will also feature the winning entries in a traveling exhibit, on Mohawk’s website, in trade journal ads, and in a printed Mohawk Show 6 catalog.
