Chambersburg, PA -- The Internal Revenue Service, says e-LYNXX awarded 6,479 individual jobs to printers of all size and capabilities during the 12 month period of August 1, 2004 through July 31, 2005. Most importantly, this work provided $58,352,253 of sales to private sector firms. The significant portion of dollar volume from these IRS awards was from 238 large single purchases averaging almost $150,000 each. The attached table is a listing developed from records collected by Government Printing Sales of the 25 largest IRS awards from August 1, 2004 through July 31, 2005. “The biggest pond for these types of opportunities in the Government Printing Office (GPO) system is the Central Washington, DC Procurement Center accounting for over 95% of these single purchases,” according to Deborah Snider, Division President for Government Printing Sales. But Snider says IRS printing offers something for everyone and is bid from every part of the country. She notes that by removing the figures for the major orders, the remaining jobs average $3,700. “This much smaller work includes forms, books of various size and bindery type, mailers, pamphlets, envelopes, folders, multiple part forms, labels, and other specialty items”, she says, “ while these various products also range in quality from black and white copying to 4-color process.” Snider adds that these small to medium run jobs can be obtained by bidding for both single purchases (jackets) or term contracts (programs). The Central Office offered more than 2,000 of these orders, but the remaining 4,000+ orders were scattered through the 16 office Regional Printing Procurement Office system. Government Printing Sales reminds printers that in order to be considered for IRS jobs, or for printing work from any Federal Agency, a printer needs to get set up as a contractor with the GPO. Included in this process is proper submission of quality samples, electronic fund transfer paperwork to receive payment, and education by key personnel of the particular rules and regulations followed by GPO such as quality ratings, paper standards, and contract terms.
