GMC Software AG to Support Xerox FreeFlow Digital Workflow Initiative
Press release from the issuing company
September 9, 2005 - Chicago, IL, USA - GMC Software AG today announced a collaboration with Xerox Corporation in which they will offer PrintNet variable data document composition, process automation, and web services software solutions as components of Xerox's FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection. FreeFlow is a strategic Xerox initiative that helps customers reduce costs, improve efficiency and increase revenue by optimizing existing workflows for digital printing. Widely regarded as the global leader for the design, composition and production of customized business transaction, promotional and on-demand communications, GMC Software AG, a Xerox Business Partner, provides robust enterprise-wide solutions for the service bureau, commercial print, finance, insurance, utility and telecom industries.
"Xerox continues to be a cornerstone of the electronic document industry, and we are pleased to be associated with such a highly regarded global organization," stated Rene Mueller, CEO of GMC Software AG. "We believe our customized, variable data communications and process automation solutions in combination with Xerox's exceptional workflow and print offerings will provide our mutual customers with faster, more consistent and more secure document processes from job creation and ordering to fulfillment and distribution."
"A major emphasis of our workflow strategy is capitalizing on partnerships, which are crucial to the success of our customers," said Mike Salfity, vice president, workflow business team, Xerox Production Systems Group. "GMC and its document composition and variable technology expertise provides Xerox with a strong partner to help our customers grow their transactional color businesses."
A History of Cooperation -- "Although this marks the beginning of our formal relationship with Xerox, we have a solid history of working together through the years with mutual customers around the globe," said Mueller. "One such customer is CDS, a Des Moines, Iowa based subsidiary of The Hearst Corporation. CDS is producing highly personalized, data-driven communications using PrintNet T software with the high-quality color output technology of the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press."
Communication Data Services, Inc. (CDS) is the leading provider of data management and customized magazine and product fulfillment services for publishers and mail order companies. PrintNet T software allows CDS to prepare personalized invoices, subscription letters, renewal notices and media wrapping referring to specific content in the publication. Further, PrintNet T supports multi-channel output, protecting CDS's investment and fully utilizes the features of Xerox iGen3 press.
"We were looking at opportunities in the CMYK color personalization market, but our legacy system would not take us there. In a perfect world, we wanted a design once-output anywhere tool. We did an extensive evaluation and we feel that PrintNet T brings us as close to that as any product in the market today," explained CDS Director Carolyn J. Williams.
Xerox will sell GMC PrintNet T and its complementary modules. GMC technical and customer support services will initially provide first level pre- and post-sales support and installation services.
