Xerox to Donate More Than $2 Million in Cash, Equipment, Services for Hurricane Katrina Relief

STAMFORD, Conn.--Sept. 2, 2005-- Xerox Corporation has committed more than $2 million in financial and technical assistance to help the people and communities hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. Xerox is allocating its contribution in the following way: An in-kind donation to the American Red Cross of $1.2 million to provide Xerox equipment, services, software, supplies and technical support in Red Cross operations centers and shelters to help ensure critical information is quickly distributed and shared. An immediate $250,000 cash contribution to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Kenner, La.; Jackson and Gulfport, Miss.; and Mobile, Ala. - the communities in which local Xerox sales, service and warehouse operations are based. A pledge of $500,000 to organizations that will be identified in collaboration with locally based Xerox employees when reconstruction efforts begin. The release of up to an additional $50,000 in Xerox Community Involvement Program funds to support Xerox employees who are volunteering their time and energy to relief efforts. Xerox estimates that 200 of its employees have been impacted by the storm. These employees continue to receive full compensation and benefits. The company is working to provide shelter, legal services, cash advances, counseling, and other support.
