Graphic Systems International, exclusive distributor for Tera for the Latin American markets, announced that the Ecuadorian daily El Diario Hoy, based in Quito (Ecuador) chose GN3.
Founded in 1982 and part of a multimedia group that also owns MetroHOY - the first free paper of the country - a tv channel, a radio station and several other publications, including the news portal Hoy Net, El Diario Hoy covers the country with two newsrooms, one in Quito and one in Guayaquil.
Recently the paper crossed the national borders through an international network of electronic kiosks that make available the title in a digital printed edition in the most prestigious hotel lobbies and airports of the planet.
By choosing GN3 the newspaper management abandoned the mac environment for a technological infrastructure based on pc workstations that, according to the newspaper staff, demonstrated to be more flexible and affordable.
“We based our decision on a careful evaluation of all the available systems supplied by the vendors.” – said Jaime Mantilla, president of El Diario Hoy – “All of their solutions were either not so well integrated or incomplete. With Tera and GSI we found one vendor with a unique integrated solution based on standard and reliable technology. And then when I had the chance to share some experiences with the other Tera customers in the Region… well my choice became really easy.”
With the 67 work-seat system to install at El Diario Hoy the number of GN3 customers in the Latin America Area will reach 45.
