Six New Executives Named at Mohawk

[Cohoes, NY] – Mohawk Paper Mills, Inc. announces organizational changes following the company’s recent acquisition of the Fine Papers business from International Paper. Effective immediately, Thomas D. O’Connor, Jr., Chairman & CEO of Mohawk Paper Mills, Inc. names the following six new executives. Richard R. LaBonge has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Sales and will report directly to Thomas O’Connor, Jr. LaBonge will be responsible for sales, which has more than doubled with the acquisition. With an already strong and talented sales force, LaBonge will build on Mohawk’s tradition of excellence as he leads the sales organization to higher performance achievements. Elizabeth A. Worthington has been promoted to Vice President, Organizational Development and will also report directly to O’Connor. Initially, Worthington’s primary assignment will be to work with O’Connor, LaBonge, and the sales team to identify current best-practices, set goals and objectives, and develop new processes to attain higher levels of personal, team and company performance. Worthington worked for Mohawk in 1999/2000. Prior to returning to Mohawk in January 2005, she held the position of Vice President, Human Resources for US Foodservice, Inc. in Denver, CO. Worthington possesses tremendous skills in organizational development, including assessment, restructuring, performance management and compensation programs. Ronald B. Raley has been promoted to Vice President & General Manager, Ohio Operations with management responsibility for both The Beckett Mill in Hamilton, OH and Mohawk’s converting center in Saybrook, OH. Raley will report to Kevin P. Richard, Mohawk’s Executive Vice President Operations. In addition to overseeing the manufacturing operations, Raley will supervise support service personnel in the areas of accounting, purchasing, information technology and human resources. Prior to joining Mohawk on May 1, 2005, effective date of the acquisition, Raley had been with International Paper for over 20 years, most recently as the mill manager of The Beckett Mill. Robert W. Scammell has been promoted to Vice President, Manufacturing with management responsibility for Mohawk’s two paper mills and converting operations in Cohoes and Waterford, NY. Scammell will continue to report to Kevin P. Richard. Scammell joined Mohawk in 1998 as Superintendent, Technical Services. Since then, he has been promoted several times holding the positions of Manager, Technical Services, Manager, Manufacturing, and most recently Director, Manufacturing and Converting. Scammell had worked for International Paper 11 years prior to joining Mohawk. Paul J. Stamas has been promoted to Vice President, Information Technology reporting to John (Jack) F. Haren, Executive Vice President, Finance and CFO. Prior to joining Mohawk in 2003, Stamas held top IT positions with Sprint PCS (US Unwired), Intermagnetics General Corp., and Albany International Corp. At Mohawk, Stamas has been responsible for making major advancements with the implementation of technologies to support business objectives. His skills, leadership and commitment were highly instrumental in the successful integration of these systems after the acquisition. Information Technology projects will drive change in every functional area of the combined company and Stamas’ leadership will help position Mohawk for high performance in all its business areas. Barry Shapiro has been promoted to Regional Sales Manager for the Northeast Region. Shapiro has been with Mohawk since 2001, and has shown sustained growth and development while continuously increasing sales. Before joining Mohawk he held the position of District Sales Manager with Williamhouse Corporation. Shapiro has extensive experience working with the customer base in the NY/NJ Metro area.
