MAN Roland sets a press customization record, offering 3,150 configurations of its 41” ROLAND 700
Press release from the issuing company
Westmont, Illinois — The ROLAND 700 is available in more configurations and versions than any other sheetfed press in the industry, according to a recent statistical analysis by MAN Roland, which identified 3,150 versions of the 41-inch press.
“The most effective action printers can take to win new business in today’s competitive marketplace is by differentiating themselves from the rest of the pack,” says Eric Belcher, COO of Sheetfed Operations at MAN Roland Inc. “That’s why we’re offering so many unique versions of the ROLAND 700, in addition to our bread-and-butter configurations.”
Belcher adds that MAN Roland simplifies the selection process by conducting production and application evaluations at a customer’s facility before recommending which configurations would work most effectively in each particular marketplace:
“We’ll typically make three or four selections from the 3,150 configurations, or we might even offer to create configuration number 3,151 if that will give the facility a competitive advantage. With our help, a printer can easily choose a unique press capable of producing products no other printer can cost-effectively offer, as well as handling general commercial work more efficiently.”
The record-setting number of ROLAND 700 configurations is made possible by MAN Roland’s ability to custom-create a press for each of its customers. Press purchasers can choose from 2-to-12 printing units and from an array of inline coating and drying combinations, which can be positioned both before and after the printing units. Different application modules, sheet ejecting technologies, and inline perfecting options further contribute to making every ROLAND 700 unique to each printer’s needs.
“By itself, the ROLAND 700 is the ultimate manufacturing platform, providing a single source for all commercial applications, and capable of printing on the lightest weight stock, up to 40 pt. board,” Belcher says. “When you combine that with our ability to deliver configurations that can produce unique printed products, printers that run ROLAND 700s have a significant edge in the marketplace when it comes to going after new business and developing unique niches for themselves.”
Each of the record 3,150 different configurations can be further customized by integrating one or more inline options that are available from MAN Roland. These can add value to jobs by applying special effects during the print run, and include metal foil applications, die cutting and embossing.
Further adding to the inline capabilities of the ROLAND 700 are InlineInspection, Eagle Eye and InlineSorter, which automate quality control while promoting non-stop print production. “When you mix the 3,150 configurations with all the inline options, the possibilities for creating profitable print products with the ROLAND 700 are virtually endless,” Belcher declares. “These possibilities can mean profitable opportunities for ROLAND 700 users.”
