Goss Magnum press wins Greensheet a New York Times print contract
Press release from the issuing company
May 16th, 2005 – Goss’ outstanding customer service and the high quality of the Goss Magnum press has won Texas newspaper publisher, Greensheet, a contract to print and distribute The New York Times national edition in Houston, Texas.
Ted Stiles, Director of Operations at the Greensheet facility, explains, “It was because of Sam Pernice and the Goss International team that we successfully negotiated The New York Times contract. When The New York Times contacted me to see if I had the right press capability, the Goss team sat down with me and showed me how to reconfigure the 20-unit Magnum press I had originally ordered in June 2004. By suggesting the addition of four new Goss Magnum units and an upper former and completing delivery and installation by the end of 2005, we were able to meet The New York Times requirements.”
The new Goss Magnum units will be added to Greensheet’s original order, placed in June 2004, to create a press that is configured with four, four-high towers and four, two-high towers. The new press will significantly increase color capacity and reduce press waste due to adjustable registration controls, greatly improving print quality. The new equipment and high level of automation will increase print speed at Greensheet by 100%, saving on man-hours and opening up new business opportunities.
“The support we have had from the Goss team has been exceptional,” Ted Stiles adds. “Their diligence and project management skills have meant that the whole Magnum press, including the new units I ordered in February, will be installed together, ensuring that we can meet our new commitment to The New York Times and still achieve uninterrupted delivery to our existing clients.”
He concludes, “We know we have made the right decision in purchasing the Goss Magnum press. We are confident of its reliability and quality, as we carried out extensive research and went to visit a number of press sites before making our final decision. Additionally, the Goss International team has been with me every step of the way, ensuring that the new press fits our needs, arrives on time and that we receive the necessary training to finish the project on schedule and within our budget.”
The Greensheet facility is based in Houston, Texas and currently prints and distributes 850,000 copies of the regional advertising publication Greensheet.
