IKON Launches Innovative Document Routing and Capture Workflow Solution

Press release from the issuing company

MALVERN, Pa.--May 16, 2005-- IKON Office Solutions, the world's largest independent channel for document management systems and services, today announced the launch of IKON DocAccel(TM), an innovative distributed capture, processing and routing solution designed to accelerate and automate complex document workflow for organizations of all sizes. IKON DocAccel will be unveiled at the AIIM/On Demand digital printing and publishing event, held May 17 - 19 in Philadelphia, and will be on display in IKON booth #101. IKON DocAccel is designed to provide IKON customers with a proven, rules-based solution that captures paper and electronic documents from various sources, such as IKON's leading multifunction products, e-mail, desktops, wireless devices and fax machines. The solution then routes the documents and processed data into an array of business applications and document management systems from industry leaders including EMC (Documentum). The IKON DocAccel solution, which is part of IKON's comprehensive document solutions portfolio, is configured, implemented and supported by IKON's team of 1,000 professional services specialists worldwide. "Increasingly, businesses are looking to reduce selling and administrative costs by accelerating their business processes, but they lack an effective solution to automate their document-intensive business workflows," said Michael E. Kohlsdorf, senior vice president of IKON Enterprise Services. "IKON DocAccel is designed to provide the critical link to automate our customers' business processes, streamline operations and reduce costs around the entire document lifecycle." IKON DocAccel is powered by AutoStore, the award-winning capture workflow platform from Notable Solutions, Inc. As Ali Tehranchi, president and chief executive officer of Notable Solutions, Inc. explained, "We have been working with IKON for more than a year, and have seen the company's commitment to becoming a true leader in providing strong, practical and cost-effective document management solutions. IKON DocAccel is much more than an OEM version of AutoStore. IKON has created a truly unique vertical capture workflow platform designed to address the needs of the legal community, as well as other industries in the near future." Targeted Vertical Applications IKON DocAccel provides a strong capture workflow platform designed to meet the unique needs of specific industries. For example, litigation support requires specific and standardized coding and processing services. Building on IKON's extensive experience in the legal document support market, IKON is launching a vertical-focused version of IKON DocAccel to help address litigation support workflow. Called IKON DocAccel Legal, this solution is designed to dramatically reduce the time and cost that law firms and corporate legal departments spend to process litigation support documentation. This solution features image processing; optical character recognition and PDF creation; bates stamping; barcode routing; auto-encoding using artificial intelligence; and CD-ROM-based document review. IKON DocAccel Legal also enables users to upload images into document management or litigation support systems, such as Summation and Concordance. Combined with IKON's expertise and investments in on- and off-site managed services, IKON DocAccel Legal provides law firms and in-house legal departments with a robust, end-to-end document workflow solution. "We believe this is an important move for IKON," said Riley McNulty, research manager at IDC. "The IKON DocAccel middleware brings together IKON's broad range of hardware, software and services. IKON has the organizational infrastructure to implement, support and manage these comprehensive solutions. IKON also is able to leverage its competencies in the legal vertical to provide innovative functionality for legal customers." IKON DocAccel and IKON DocAccel Legal are expected to be available in the next 90 days.
