May 4, 2005 -- Quad/Graphics announces the appointment of two long-term vice presidents to expanded roles within the company. David A. Blais has been named Senior Vice President of Sales & Administration and John C. Fowler has strengthened his role as Chief Financial Officer, becoming Senior Vice President of Finance & CFO.
Mr. Blais most recently served as Vice President of Operations, where he was closely aligned with Corporate Sales in developing and retaining print contracts. In his newly expanded role, he will directly oversee Corporate Sales and Customer Service, as well as Estimating, Scheduling, Paper Purchasing, Paper Sales and overall Pricing Policy. He will work directly with Quad/Graphics' three Regional Vice Presidents of Sales — Bob Wachtendonk, Tim Ohnmacht and Renee Lekan — as well as Ron Nash, Vice President of Customer Service.
"In his 20-plus years with the company, Dave has played an essential role in developing Quad/Graphics' successful sales and service strategies," said Joel Quadracci, Quad/Graphics' President & Chief Operating Officer. "Going forward, we will continue to capitalize on his acute understanding of customer needs and marketplace dynamics, and how to best leverage our unique manufacturing platform and highly skilled people to win and retain work."
Mr. Fowler, a 25-year employee, most recently served as Quad/Graphics' Vice President of Finance & Chief Financial Officer, and is credited with helping develop, implement and finance the strategies that have catalyzed the company's profitable growth. In his newly expanded role, Mr. Fowler will build on his existing record of success overseeing Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Risk Management, Shareholder Relations, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Planning. Furthermore, he will assume executive-level responsibility for the company's Corporate Purchasing function.
"As we continue to pursue increased market share and profitable growth, John will be at the forefront of that effort," Mr. Quadracci said. "For two-and-half decades, he has been integral to building Quad/Graphics into an industry leader. I am confident that in his expanded role, he'll propel Quad/Graphics to even higher levels of success."
