Northwest Paper Box Names John Myers New Chief Executive Officer
Press release from the issuing company
PORTLAND, OR – Northwest Paper Box has promoted John Myers to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Myers, who previously held the position of Vice President, General Manager has been with the company since October 2003. His focus on expanding product lines and services is credited with helping the company’s sales grow significantly over the past 18 months. First quarter sales are up more than 26% compared to the same period last year.
“It’s a real challenge to differentiate yourself in a commodity business,” noted Brad Van Allen, CFO of Northwest Paper Box, “but we’ve done it. Our business has grown dramatically.”
In addition to an extensive line of stock and custom corrugated boxes, Northwest Paper Box now offers the “one stop” convenience of related packaging supplies and equipment. As John Myers explained, “it’s a more complete bundle. By expanding our focus inside and around the box, our customers can make one less phone call.”
Myers’ experience in the packaging industry spans 14 years. He began in 1991 in sales for xpedx in Seattle, Washington, receiving a promotion to Sales Manager in 1993, and Business Unit Manager in 1994. A move to Reno, Nevada followed in 1995 where he served as Branch Manager for three years. Myers’ group was recognized nationally as one of the company’s best-performing divisions in 1997. In 1998, Myers was recruited by West Coast Paper Company of Portland, Oregon where he became Division Manager. He was promoted to Vice President of the Packaging Division and was later named Vice President for the Southern Region. During his tenure, sales grew sharply culminating in a new Portland facility and the company being twice voted one of Oregon’s “100 Best Companies to Work For.”
“John’s a real visionary,” added Brad Van Allen. “He brings a wealth of knowledge about the packaging and sales side of the business. His leadership will have a positive impact – not just on the products we offer our customers, but on the future of the company.”
In addition to John Myers’ promotion, Northwest Paper Box also announced that Brad Van Allen has been named Chief Financial Officer; Rod Van Allen, Vice President; and John Van Allen, Vice President.
