We also look forward to introducing the extremely versatile Duplo Muller system tailored to fit any customer’s specific requirements for high speed, cut sheet or continuous feeding applications. The ON DEMAND show is an ideal venue for us to showcase our advanced digital finishing systems and we anticipate that our products will be very well received.”
DSF-2000/SCC Bookletmaking System
The SCC (slit/cut/crease) bookletmaking system incorporates a DSF-2000 sheet feeder (with optional barcode reader), the SCC unit, a DBM-500 bookletmaker and a DBM-500 trimmer. Designed principally for the production color digital market, the SCC-equipped bookletmaking system takes care of two common issues associated with digital color output. First, the SCC unit side slits and trims the head and foot of each sheet. This provides an accurate full bleed trim which is registered by a CCD camera to the image, rather than to the physical dimensions of the sheet – this means that image drift can be corrected. Second, the SCC module can crease the cover and innermost sheets of the booklet, or all the sheets in the booklet so that image cracking on the fold-line is prevented.
DC-645 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser
Building on the success of the DC-545HC slitter/cutter/creaser, Duplo is featuring its second-generation machine - the heavy-duty DC-645. The DC-645 has the ability to read printed images and automatically adjust and compensate for the common problem of image shift. It slits, cuts, and creases in a single pass, reducing waste and ensuring optimum productivity. The new features which set it apart from the DC-545HC are its high duty cycle, the ability to manage heavier substrates (up to 310gsm) and larger sheet sizes, the first and only ultrasonic double detection sensor in the market, a reject tray, and its ability to cut full-bleed, 20-up business cards on a 12” x 18” size sheet. With a state-of-the-art user interface, the DC-645 has been specifically developed to support the JDF industry standard.
DBM-500 2KT Two-Knife Trimmer
The DBM-500 2KT provides a uniquely modular approach to trimming all open sides of a booklet. An optional unit to the DBM-500T face trimmer, the DBM-500 2KT trims the head and foot of completed booklets. The initial settings are programmed from a user interface on the trimmer and are then transferred to the main memory of the finishing modules. The operator can then call up frequently used jobs from a single user interface. Duplo’s modular equipment allows users to build up their system as their needs dictate, starting with a simple face-trim function then adding the head and foot trim when required. Full-bleed jobs can now be transferred directly from the press to the finishing device without the need for trimming on a guillotine before or after stitching and folding.
Duetto System
An advanced hybrid solution based on the System 5000, the Duetto incorporates a DSF-2000 dynamic sheet feeder, up to three DC-10/60 collators, DBM-500 bookletmaker and DBM-500T trimmer. The Duetto is the first system to offer a combined offset and digital print finishing solution by accepting the documents on a set-by-set basis from the DC-10/60 collating towers or sheet-by-sheet from the DSF-2000 sheet feeder. For instance, sets printed on conventional offset presses are loaded into the DC-10/60 then collated and fed into the bookletmaker, whereas sets printed on a digital print engine are stacked in the sheet feeder which is attached to the rear of the collating towers. The pre-collated sets are fed in sequence, bypassing the collators and into the bookletmaker where the sheets are accumulated and then processed into booklets.
Duplo Muller System
Duplo Muller systems epitomize on demand finishing with its extremely high speeds and versatility. Designed to be connected in-line or off-line to continuous roll/form printers, a Duplo System 5000 bookletmaker, or folding/inserting system, the Duplo Muller system is the most versatile cut sheet and continuous feeding system on the market. Modular in its design, Duplo Muller systems are tailored to fit each customer’s specific needs. Featuring at ON DEMAND will be the unwinder to cut sheet and bookletmaking system. Other possible applications out of an endless array of configurations include merging several unwinder systems or cut sheet feeders in a single line for bookletmaking, inserting or stacking; unwinding to cut sheet printers; and cut sheet to bookletmaking, folding, inserting, or tape binding of checkbooks.
DP-460H Air-Fed Digital Printing System
The DP-460H leads the industry as the world’s first air-fed digital printing system. It offers a cost-effective alternative solution to short runs, taking on single and spot color jobs from 25 prints and up at 600dpi. A 3,000-sheet high capacity feeder diminishes downtime while an automatic plate change is carried out within 22 seconds. The DP-460H incorporates a vacuum-feed system which eliminates paper marking and offers faster rerun for duplex and spot color work. At speeds up to 130 prints per minute, the new digital duplicator is ideal for producing order sheets, invitations, envelopes, exam papers, newsletters, score cards, menus, tickets, stationery, and more onto a
range of stocks from NCR to card and envelopes at weights of 11lb. NCR to 110lb. index. The DP-460H is fully network compatible (PC or Mac) with RIP or a Duplo print server, offering computer to press imaging up to 1,300 prints in just ten minutes.
