Speciality Label Printer Demonstrates Speed and Versatility of Agfa's :Dotrix Digital Press
Press release from the issuing company
Cv@UK – Flexo 2005 (Hall17 Booth 1326) – 16 March 2005 – Agfa announced that Reynders, a large supplier of labels for pharmaceutical, household, and office products throughout Europe and a user of Agfa’s :Dotrix digital press, is working with Agfa to give show-goers an inside look at how the :Dotrix operates in a live production environment. Agfa and Reynders are holding live video demonstrations at Agfa’s booth during Flexo 2005.
The presentations, which take place hourly at the show, begin by explaining the benefits that :Dotrix brings to label and package printing workflows. Live-feed video then connects the show audience in the UK with the press operator at the Reynders site in Belgium. The audience is able to see and speak with the press operator in real time as several jobs are defined by showgoers and then run through the system, demonstrating the speed and versatility of :Dotrix.
Reynders, one of the largest speciality label printers in Belgium, originally purchased the :Dotrix system because of its fast, flexible short-run production capabilities. Anticipating that the future would continue to bring shorter-run, variable-data printing jobs, the company needed a versatile system that could meet those needs.
The :Dotrix allows Reynders to switch quickly between jobs, because there are no plates to make or press start-ups to run. The modularity of the :Dotrix press lets it conform to a variety of finishing widths, which can accommodate a multitude of sizes and applications. In the future, Reynders’ 32 cm-wide, 4-colour :Dotrix system can be expanded to 63-cm, simply by adding additional print cartridges.
