The Polestar Group has appointed a new Account Director for its Newspaper category, following its recent success in securing and extending contracts with a number of newspaper publishers. Jeff White will be joining the company on 1st March from Quebecor World and amongst his responsibilities will be the Associated Newspapers contract awarded to the Group last year. Jeff has worked in the print industry for 30 years. At Quebecor World, he was main board director with responsibility for manufacturing. Previous experience also includes board responsibility for customer service. John Ashfield, Polestar Group Sales & Marketing Director, says: “In addition to his significant knowledge and experience of newspaper supplement production, Jeff has excellent relationships with national and international publishers. I look forward to welcoming him to the Group and wish him every success in this new role.” Jeff White adds: "The recent investments made by Polestar in printing plant and machinery is a statement of intent and a signal to the industry that Polestar will be one of the most formidable printing groups within Europe and will certainly dominate the UK. The new Sheffield plant, coupled with recent installations at Leeds and Colchester, has now been closely followed by an investment in people. New staff recruitment will complement an already strong team and I am delighted to have been asked to be a part of this exciting period within the company’s history. In my new role as Account Director, I have every intention of ensuring that our quality and service is second to none." In the last 12 months, Polestar has won new business from a number of leading newspaper publishers, including Independent Newspapers (Ireland) and Trinity Mirror. Last month, the Group extended its contract with Express Newspapers, for the production of the Saturday and Sunday Express and the Saturday and Sunday Daily Star supplements as well as two weekly magazines.
