New Goss Magnapak system setting inserting records in California
Press release from the issuing company
November 2nd, 2004 – One month after startup, the integrated Magnapak postpress system at The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, California is turning in record breaking inserting performances.
"We set what we believe was a world record for inserting 39 inserts into a single comic jacket while netting 8,200 per hour on October 6," explains Steve Favero, vice president of operations at The Press-Enterprise. "The next day, we ran 34 inserts at 9,000 per hour, and two days later we broke our record with 41 inserts into one jacket."
The Press-Enterprise installed a Goss Magnapak packaging system with 42 stations and dual delivery capability. The system also utilizes an integrated MultiDisc winder/unwinder storage system from Ferag and Packman stackers from Quipp. An Omnizone supervisory and downstream software bundle controls were supplied with the Magnapak system.
"This type of high-volume, high-speed, versioned inserting is exactly why we bought the Magnapak," according to Favero. "We had a very smooth, on-time installation, and the Goss approach to support and integration is paying off for us already."
