ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Oct. 1, 2004 -- Xerox Corporation announced today that Quincy L. Allen has been named president of the Production Systems Group, effective immediately. In this position, Allen is responsible for the company's high-end systems, software and service offerings for the graphic communications industry, including production publishing, transaction printing and enterprise-wide printing - a $4.5 billion business for Xerox. Allen will lead Xerox's efforts to leverage the complementary power of digital printing in the offset printing market, targeting key growth opportunities including just-in-time printing, customized printing and on-demand book publishing. Allen leads the worldwide development and marketing of color and monochrome systems, including the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press as well as the Nuvera, DocuPrint and DocuColor product lines. He also oversees Xerox's FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection of software, hardware and related offerings designed to streamline the printing process. "Quincy brings great strength to this position, including strategic vision and broad operational experience," said Ursula M. Burns, president, Xerox Business Group Operations. "He has played a lead role in Xerox's efforts to drive increased productivity across our business and has a strong track record of generating results by putting our customers first." Since joining Xerox as an electrical engineer in 1982, Allen has held senior technical and management positions in areas such as customer services, supply chain, marketing and product development. Most recently, Allen was senior vice president in Xerox Business Group Operations, where he was responsible for cost competitiveness. As president of PSG, Allen continues to report to Burns. He succeeds the late Gilbert J. Hatch who served as president of the group from Jan. 1, 2003, until his death Aug. 26, 2004. Allen, 44, earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1982 and an MBA from the University of Rochester in 1993. He resides in Penfield, N.Y.
