Latran Introduces New Color Technology Software

Press release from the issuing company

BEDFORD, MA, September 15, 2004 — Latran Technologies LLC, a leader in the industry's most advanced digital halftone proofing technology and a major provider of high-quality proofing systems to the high-end commercial printing, label and packaging markets, is introducing new color technology software that significantly extends the available gamut for accurate, seamless proofing of spot colors on Latran's Prediction digital halftone proofing systems. Dr. David McCarthy, General Manager and Chief Technology Officer of Latran Technologies, observed, "Our new Prediction software, in combination with our extensive offering of spot color ink sheets, provides the industry with the most accurate digital proofing statement of how spot colors will print on flexo, gravure or offset presses. It gives label and packaging producers the total confidence they need that the product coming off their presses exactly matches the predicted result that their customers have signed off on." The software's advanced color management technology utilizes any combination of the Prediction’s CMYK ink sheets, plus special colors, including red, green, blue, orange, white, and metallic gold and silver. Latran is also introducing a new purple ink sheet which expands the Prediction spot color proofing gamut even further. The software enables the Prediction Digital Halftone Proofing System to accurately proof spot colors by retaining the exact screen angles, dot shapes, resolution and lpi of the spot colors. The spot colors are accurately simulated using the required combination of CMYK and spot color ink sheets. These two attributes are essential for a digital proofing system to precisely predict what will happen on press. No changes in the prepress workflow are required. Spot separations are sent to the Prediction proofing system front-end workstation and processed for seamless output.
