August 18, 2004 -- Designers' Press, Inc. purchased a new Komori Lithrone LS 640/C offset printing press to expand production capabilities and meet increasing customer demand for high quality full color printing. This fully automated 6-color press is the most technologically advanced sheet-fed press in central Florida, and is the only one of its kind in the state.
The new Komori LS features CIM (computer integrated manufacturing) capabilities. The press can be fully programmed for each job prior to going on press. While on press, PDCS (scanning closed-loop photodensitometry) can control print quality to exacting standards and provide a complete job history.
Komori hails this press as "the crown of the Lithrone series, developed expressly for profit-focused, customer-drivenprint manufacturers". The addition of this press will significantly increase Designers' Press capacity and enable the company to continue a track record of well-managed, double-digit growth.
Installation for the press in currently underway, and company principals Dave Simons and Dan Wolfe say they expect to be producing live jobs by June 7, 2004.
Designers Press. Inc., founded in 1990 by Simons and Wolfe, employs 73 people at its 35,000 square-foot facility, located on 6 acres in Orlando Central Park.
