Cadmus Communications Launches Innovative Delivery Service for Digital Content
Press release from the issuing company
RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 17 -- Cadmus Communications Corporation today announced that it has launched 3Path(TM), an innovative new digital delivery technology that allows publishers to deliver digital content directly to the desktops of end users and content consumers. Email and the Internet are two widely used distribution channels for digital content, however, both have limitations. 3Path provides a new way to deliver high-value digital content that is secure, efficient, and convenient for both content providers and consumers.
3Path is an encrypted, packet-based digital delivery solution that enables the dissemination of any file type or size, and requires no effort on the part of the end user to receive such information once they have opted-in to that content. Large files transfer efficiently because 3Path technology utilizes unused bandwidth to deliver files with relatively little degradation to the performance of the recipient's computing system. The files are delivered directly to the 3Path center on the desktop and a notification announces their arrival -- no searching for attachments or downloading files from the Internet. 3Path creates a highly personalized experience for the end user by enabling a direct communications channel between the publisher and the content consumer.
Using 3Path, publishers deliver and store files in folders called "channels" on the user's desktop. These channels are represented by branded icons on the desktop which open to a fully branded graphical interface that establishes a persistent visual reminder of the publisher's value and relationship with the user. The publisher not only efficiently delivers files, but also creates and maintains control of an archive of critical business information in a branded space on the user's desktop.
"Publishers can greatly expand their business models by acquiring and delivering content that is valuable to their content consumers regardless of whether it is of a printed nature or of other multi-media formats," commented Hai Tran, Senior VP of Technology and Strategic Development. "3Path provides publishers with a solution to broaden the type of content they can efficiently deliver to their content consumers that may generate incremental revenue, enable a cost-effective approach to expand globally, and enhance the end user relationship with a more interactive, branded and personalized delivery experience."
"3Path represents another exciting step in Cadmus' strategy to bring innovative information delivery technologies to publishers," said Bruce Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer. "However, we also believe this technology has a broader potential application for other markets that require a uniquely efficient process for disseminating digital content using a highly personalized distribution channel."
Cadmus' 3Path technology will be on display at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Association Executives in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 14th to 17th; at Seybold San Francisco on August 16th to 19th; and the Florida Magazine Association Meeting in Aventura, Florida on August 19th to the 21st.
