Genicap Supergraphx Software Honored with 2004 GATF InterTech Technology Award

Press release from the issuing company

Aug. 5, 2004-- Genicap Corp. NV, developer of unique graphics software based on the Gielis Superformula, has been named recipient of a 2004 InterTech Technology Award for its Supergraphx line of graphics productivity software. The award was presented by the combined Printing Industries of America (PIA) / Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) organization. The award competition, conducted annually since 1978, honors innovations that have been proven in industrial applications but are not yet in widespread use. A panel of independent judges chose this year's award recipients from a roster of 33 nominations. "The 2004 awards show that even small companies can develop a highly innovative technology deserving of an InterTech Award," said PIA/GATF Research Director John Lind. In describing the company, InterTech said, "This revolutionary series of software plug-ins and standalone products uses a recently discovered algorithm (the Gielis Superformula) to simplify the core technology used to define and create simple and complex shapes, both symmetrical and nonsymmetrical, in 2D and 3D. The software significantly increases the speed of design generation and production. In addition to enhancing a designer's creativity, the software improves workflow by reducing file size by as much as 1,000 times, making it easier to work with and transfer graphics files. As one judge remarked, 'Brilliant! It's off the charts in terms of innovation.'" All Supergraphx software is based on application of the Superformula, a mathematical algorithm that dramatically simplifies the computer code needed to generate virtually any graphic shape - enabling more efficient programs with significantly greater capabilities. The new software line currently consists of three available titles: Genicap Supergraphx for Cinema4D, Genicap Supergraphx for Illustrator, and Genicap Supergraphx 3D Shape Explorer, which all will be demonstrated at SIGGRAPH. SIGGRAPH 2004 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from August 9 - 13, 2004. Genicap has booth number #2113. More than 25,000 computer graphics professionals from around the world are expected to attend the 31st International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques during its 5-day run.
