CAP Ventures Examines Trends in Home Printing in New Research Report

Press release from the issuing company

(Norwell, MA) January 6, 2004…CAP Ventures introduced a new report entitled Trends in Home Printing, which highlights the results of a recent Internet end-user survey. Survey respondents discussed their home printing habits, the types of printers that they owned, the kinds of media that they used, and their inkjet cartridge preferences. The research is separated into six categories: respondent profile, technology products, home printing and media use, media purchasing trends, digital photography, and inkjet cartridge preference. Some of the more interesting points that can be made based on this survey include: • Our survey respondents indicated owning a wide range of technology products. The highest percentage of respondents (nearly 88%) indicated owning an inkjet printer or multifunctional device, surpassing cell phone possession by more than 20% in this survey. • Almost 60% of our survey respondents said that their home printers or multifunctional devices were used at least once a day. On average, participants reported printing about 154 pages each month. • OEM-branded products continue to maintain their strong hold on the inkjet cartridge market. More than 80% of our survey respondents indicated that their most recent cartridge purchase was the same brand as their printer or multifunctional device. An even higher percentage indicated plans to purchase OEM cartridges in the future. Research for the report was conducted via a Web-based survey in October 2003. More than 700 respondents participated in the survey. Respondents were evenly distributed across the United States. This research report is available immediately to clients of CAP Ventures’ Communication Supplies Consulting Service.
