Washington, D.C.-Holding 18 patents and with more than a quarter century of experience in the technology industry, Mike Wash joins the Government Printing Office (GPO) as Chief Technical Officer and co-Director of the Office of Innovation and New Technology.  In his new role, Wash will provide guidance and development of technology designed to accelerate the transformation of the GPO into a digital information processing facility. "Mike has led projects at large organizations that have resulted in successful breakthroughs in science.  He has the advanced technology background and the real world experience to build the next generation information system for the GPO," says Bruce James, Public Printer of the United States and the agency's CEO.  "Mike will be the architect of the agency's new information system, evaluate new technologies for their application to Government information and build an applied research and development team at GPO." Prior to joining the GPO, Wash was the Executive Director of Product Management and Marketing at Gerber Scientific Products.  Wash joined Gerber after spending 26 years at Eastman Kodak Company.  At Kodak he directed the company's digital photo finishing equipment business and was responsible for developing the system to deliver Kodak Perfect Touch Processing for the consumer photo market in North America and Europe.  Earlier in his career at Kodak, Wash was instrumental in developing the Information Exchange System that is used in the Advanced Photo System, Kodak's Advantix System.  This work led to the patent that awarded him with the 1996 National Inventor of the Year Award.  He also held positions at Colorado Memory Systems in Loveland, as Director of Engineering; and as a founder at Combyte, Inc., Fort Collins, Colorado, a manufacturing and developing company of storage devices for the personal computer market, as Vice President of Engineering.  He is a Purdue University graduate.
