More than 800 customers, industry leaders, media, analysts, and Printcafe representatives are expected at the conference, believed to be the largest of its kind in the print industry. The Connect 2003 program has been significantly expanded with entirely new content and an increase in the number of workshops, breakout classes and training sessions. Highlights include five general sessions featuring "The Printcafe Report 2003" with Printcafe CEO Marc Olin. Other general sessions include "Myths of the Printing Plant" by Udi Arieli, director of product management for CIM and Web products; "A Tour of the Integrated Printing Plant", exploring the reality of the Smart Factory, lead by industry workflow expert Peter Muir and a panel of Printcafe customers; and "Investing in Equipment," guiding printers through new equipment purchases with Tom Crouser. Connect 2003 will feature over 130 breakout sessions, with practical applications and discussions tailored to users of Printcafe's Hagen, Logic, PSI, PrintSmith and Prograph print management systems and add-on modules, plus a number of sessions focused on the unique needs of new Printchannel customers. Brand new conference streams have also been introduced including a Planning for Profit track, designed to provide printers with insights on how to manage their business for competitive advantage and greater profitability, and an information technology infrastructure track focusing on tips for maximizing the use of IT systems. "Connect 2003 promises to be our best yet," said Marc Olin, Printcafe CEO. "The increase in registrations in this tough economic environment is clear evidence of word spreading across our industry that Connect is the one place our customers can find the information they need to maximise the use of their print management systems, reduce costs and manufacture more efficiently." An Industry Showcase exhibit area is also part of the conference, with the latest products and services from industry leaders such as Electronics For Imaging (EFI), Creo, Komori, MAN Roland, Exact Software, MeadWestvaco, Innovative Shipping and Mailing, Alinco Computers, WhatTheyThink and NAPL.
