Magazines Make A Difference Sweepstakes Kicks Off

Press release from the issuing company

New York, NY (April 22, 2003) The Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) is launching a sweepstakes entitled Magazines Make A Difference, it was announced today by Ellen Oppenheim, Executive Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer, MPA. The sweepstakes targets agency media executives and clients with the Grand Prize of a trip for two to the “remote” Laluna resort on the island of Grenada via Air Jamaica, and with five First Prizes of TiVo personal video recorders with lifetime service. The sweepstakes ads will begin to appear in advertising trade publications, as well as in complimentary copies of several member magazines in May, with the random drawing for winners being held in August. “This ‘tongue in cheek’ campaign is meant to poke a little fun at our fellow TV media partners by pointing out the erosion of audience for ads in television due to devices like the remote control and TiVo versus the consistency of attentiveness of ads in magazines,” said Ms. Oppenheim. “It’s all in the spirit of fun—but with a clear message.”
