London Litho Solves Major Workflow Problem For Carlson Print Group
Press release from the issuing company
Lincolnwood, Illinois --April 4, 2003 -- London Litho—known throughout the Midwest for its ability to integrate complex prepress and pressroom solutions that are vital to the printing industry—recently installed a Gerber Sector at The Carlson Print Group, a major sheetfed printer serving the Minneapolis area. The machine automatically cuts coating blankets as an integral part of prepress workflow. Here is what Carlson Print Group executives had to say about the installation:
“Prior to getting the Gerber Sector, we could not realize our normal efficiencies, accuracy and profitability when attempting to print spot coating work. Often we declined to bid jobs offered by current or potential clients, because of complex spot coating requirements, and occasionally we jeopardized existing customer relationships by missing schedule dates on coating jobs. Today, these problems have been solved by the Gerber Sector. The precision of the equipment is better than we had hoped, and as a result we have been awarded several significant projects we otherwise would not have received. Our close relationship with London Litho, and their attention to our operational needs, resulted in their recommending the machine.”—Rod Franson, Plant Manager
“From a prepress point of view, the Gerber Sector software is very straightforward and intuitive, requiring only four or five steps to output the coating file. Once the file is sent to the Gerber Sector, the blanket is cut quickly and accurately. We were amazed at the level of detail which can be cut and at how accurately the resulting coating blanket fits on the press.”—Pat Kenney, Prepress Manager
“We were amazed at the accuracy of blankets cut on the Gerber Sector. It improved our pressroom efficiency and gave us the ability to offer our customers more.”—Doug Mohagen, Pressroom Manager
Commenting on the installation, Jamie Walsh, London Litho Minneapolis Branch Manager, observed: “Because products such as the Gerber Sector affect more than one operational area—in this case prepress and the pressroom—graphic arts dealers that do not consider the entire printing process may fail to recognize how customers might benefit from them. The Carlson Print Group installation is result of the holistic relationship which London Litho develops with customers. London Litho is pleased to have been involved in this project.”
