Sheetfed Conference Takes Attendees Behind The Scenes Of Top Chicago Printers

Press release from the issuing company

PARAMUS, N.J., March 31, 2003 – Attendees of the 11th Annual GATF/NAPL Sheetfed Pressroom Conference, to be held June 1-3, at the Marriott O’Hare in Chicago, will have the option of topping off their conference experience with a plant tour to one of four leading printers in the Chicago area. Throughout the plant visit, scheduled for June 3, participants will learn about the successful solutions these leading companies have developed to meet some of the most pressing challenges facing today’s sheetfed printers. Participants can choose to visit one of four companies: • Quantum Color Graphics. The customer base of this Morton Grove, Ill.-based commercial printer includes advertising agencies, design firms, and corporations throughout the country. Established in 1992, Quantum Color Graphics has grown rapidly, logging more than $25 million in sales in 2002. The pressroom features an array of 40-in. presses—some waterless, others with multiple-coating technology. • Caraustar-Chicago. Founded 60 years ago, Caraustar is a billion-dollar company, with 123 facilities and more than 6,500 employees. Its custom packaging group, which includes Caraustar-Chicago and 23 other manufacturing facilities, is ranked in the top 10 of U.S. folding carton producers. • Fort Dearborn Company. The nation’s largest supplier of paper labels, Fort Dearborn’s Niles, Ill., Division dedicates 150,000 sq. ft. to the production of cut-and-stack labels for food, beverage, and other consumer products. The facility uses state-of-the-art presses and its HiColour six-color process to produce labels with maximum shelf appeal. • Classic Colour. A well established Chicago prepress firm, Classic Colour added printing capability several years ago with the installation of a 28-in. press. The company has since moved to a new production facility and added two new presses, including its first 40-in. press, which combines high speed—up to16,000 sheets per hour—with a high level of automation. Participation in the plant tour is included in the overall Conference fee (see details below). However, registration is limited to 47 for each plant tour (35 for Caraustar), so those interested in taking advantage of this new Conference feature are encouraged to register early by calling (800) 642-6275, Option 3. Fee for the 11th Annual GATF/NAPL Sheetfed Pressroom Conference is $495 for GATF/PIA, NAPL, and Craftsmen Club members (non-members: $595). Companies can maximize the benefits of the Conference by registering a group of employees. GATF/PIA and NAPL member companies will save $50 on second and third registrations, and $100 on the fourth registrant. In addition, registrations received before May 1, 2003, will receive an early-bird discount of $50. To register, call NAPL at (800) 642-6275, Option 3.
