Foster City, Calif. – July 17, 2007 – EFI, the world leader in color digital print servers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions, today announced that R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company will expand its implementation of EFI Prograph, bringing the total to 27 facilities using the production planning system as their magazine, catalog, directory and retail insert manufacturing platform.  In addition, RR Donnelley has worked with EFI to develop a first of its kind system in the printing industry that allows a printing company to administer customer contracts and create invoices based upon these contracts and job planning data in Prograph.
 
Prograph offers powerful, comprehensive planning capabilities – including versioning, complex imposition and distribution tools – that allow printers to make more informed business decisions and streamline their production process.  “We standardized on Prograph at 14 of our plants two years ago and have been extremely happy with the results, so it was a natural next-step to roll it out to the rest of our facilities,” said Dan Knotts, Group President of RR Donnelley.
 
RR Donnelley was also impressed with the new Contract Billing module for Prograph, which allows them to represent long-term contract pricing they have in place with clients, a common practice for publication printers. The system then helps them generate the invoices based on these contracts using the planning data in Prograph.

We will soon go live with the application and expect this to really help streamline our billing process.”
