FORTUNE Rates R.R. Donnelley Industry Best For Third Consecutive Year

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, Feb. 24 -- FORTUNE magazine this week named R.R. Donnelley the most highly regarded company in the printing industry for the third straight year in its 2003 "America's Most Admired Companies" list. "We are once again proud of this recognition, which is even more meaningful during this time of heightened scrutiny of corporate reputations. Even in today's fiercely competitive world, where pressures have led some to cut corners, we continue to value our integrity over all else," said William L. Davis, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Chicago-based R.R. Donnelley. "This recognition affirms the solid reputation we have maintained with our customers and shareholders." The "Most Admired" rankings are published in FORTUNE magazine's March 3 edition, which arrives on newsstands today. FORTUNE bases its rankings on research by the Hay Group, which examines the 10 largest American companies by revenues in 66 industries, including large subsidiaries of foreign firms. The company surveyed 10,000 executives, directors and securities analysts, who rated the companies in their industries using eight criteria -- social responsibility, innovation, long-term investment value, use of corporate assets, employee talent, financial soundness, quality of products/services and quality of management. R.R. Donnelley scored top rankings for its use of corporate assets, social responsibility and financial soundness, according to the survey results.
