LDR International Shinohara Press Sales Strong

Press release from the issuing company

PORTLAND, OR - January 8, 2003 -- LDR International today announced that recent sales of Shinohara presses are strong and the future shows no signs of their diminishing. A Shinohara 52/2P two-color press was sold (installed, and trained on) by LDR International recently to Well Source Imagery Press in Portland, Oregon. Well Source's need for the new press was brought on by the their duplicator press's inability to keep up with the printing demands of quality and speed that Well Source required. The ability to provide large ink solids, print at 13,000 impressions per hour, and print four color work with perfect registration were features of the Shinohara Press most valued by Well Source's management. A new Shinohara 75/4P four-color press with in-line aqueous coating was sold (installed, and trained on) by LDR International together with Shinohara in December, 2002, to Western Lithographics in Costa Mesa, CA. Western Lithographics upgraded its pressroom to better serve its customers by providing faster make-readies made possible by semi-automatic plate changing, the most modern press console, and the ability to print and coat in one pass. Western Lithographics prizes the perfecting feature of their new 23"x29" press, which allows them to print two colors on both sides of the sheet in a single pass. George Petty, President of Western Lithographics, reports better results on both solids and screens than ever before possible. This superior printing allows Western Lithographics to compete with the highest quality printers in the Western United States. A new Shinohara 52/4P four-color press was recently sold (installed, and trained on) by LDR International to Bourland Printing in Eugene, Oregon. This 14"x20" press features a complete package for automation, including: semi-automatic plate changing, automatic blanket washers and ink roller cleaning, remote color console with digital register including plate cocking, and CIP3/4 interface to their new platesetter for downloading ink key profiles. Unique software from Shinohara even performs automatic pre-inking for the next scheduled job. Semi-automatic perfector changeover from four color to 2/2-, 2/1- or 1/1-print jobs take a little over one minute. Delta dampening eliminates hickey problems. With this high level of automation, Bourland Printing's owners Shawn Brandt and Doug Harris expect to have distinct competitive advantages on short-run, high-quality printing in their market area. LDR International distributes the Shinohara line of presses in the Western United States as well as its full offering of bindery equipment: Itoh Cutters, Kudo Joggers and Shoei Folders, and Standard Horizon finishing and binding eqiupment.
