"We have a long-standing relationship with Autologic," said Gerry Riley, VP of Production for The Journal News. "Autologic has helped us through the years to get to full pagination and our successful experiences convinced us to continue with Autologic as our reliable and valued business partner. Autologic's technology is proven and it made sense to expand our business relationship to include the conversion from film to plate imaging."
The Journal News' prepress operations, with the introduction of CtP digital workflow technology, are poised to vastly improve the final output thanks to Autologic workflow solutions. The prepress functions now require less manual intervention, creating new opportunities to apply the gained human capital to more productive tasks.
"We are happy that The Journal News chose us to provide them with the tools and solutions they need to deliver the news," said Bob Caplan, Director, Autologic Newspaper Systems Business. "We apply our expertise to our systems and solutions to help newspapers like The Journal News create cost-effective, timely and perfect editions every time."
In addition to the systems and solutions, The Journal News will also be using the N91 photo-polymer plate. The N91 is ideal for newspaper applications, meeting medium pressruns to over 450,000 impressions. A new ultra-durable coating provides superior imaging and run length and is suitable for medium or long running web- or sheet-fed presses. Its photopolymer coating has been tuned for laser exposure, using visible instead of UV.
